About Us
Obscura Motion was founded by Giles Cook and Ziggy Fahey. Within the first few months, the team expanded from two to four members with the addition of Matt Deeley and Olly Worrell. Since then, we’ve all become co-founders of Obscura. We are a close-knit team, always supporting each other, with Obscura Motion at the forefront of our minds for the past two to three years.
As university students, balancing our studies with organizing shoots for clients has been challenging. However, we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure we provide the best service possible and consistently go the extra mile for our clients. Don’t just take our word for it—feel free to ask anyone we've worked with ;).
Each of us brings unique skills and traits that make us invaluable to the team. A key strength shared among all of us is the ability to onboard and nurture talent, which translates into our ability to help develop artists. Obscura Motion is more than just a production team; what we’ve built over the past two years has greatly benefited many of the artists we've worked with. Their appreciation is reflected in our high reviews, visible on our homepage.
We are still learning and evolving, striving to make Obscura the best it can be. All four of us are incredibly proud of what we’ve created, and we’re now in a position to properly showcase what we've been building.
FAQs
Do you handle everything in-house or do you work with external freelancers?
We do both, at Obscura if the project has a need for an external job we will always guarantee the trust and quality of that person we've outsourced. In other cases, for lower budget projects we outsource to a network of freelancers we trust, however, one HOD will always oversee a project to make sure you're getting the quality you deserve.
How do I get started with your production team?
See the Booking pagePlease see the (booking section) of the website to understand our process in full. If you still have questions, please don't hesitate to email us at: team@obscuramotion.com
How do you ensure quality of the final product?
In bigger shoots most of our team will be involved as well as trusted freelance roles to ensure quality is met, before the shoot, during the shoot and after the shoot.
How do you handle revisions or feedback?
See the Policy pageWe use a website called Frame.io to upload a rough cut, which you can timestamp comments on so we can amend, we can also comment back to discuss our point of view for a certain choice within the edit. We offer a maximum of 2 free revisions, after this we charge per revision (Please see the POLICY page to understand in full).
What equipment does your production team use?
At the moment we have access to 2x a7iv's and 1 fx3+ lenses and accessories, however, often we rent out from various rental connections we have to use equipment that may fit your vision better.
What happens if something goes wrong or there's a delay?
See the Policy pageWe never play the blame game. We will always work together with you to determine the problem and promptly rectify the issue (Please see POLICY section for full detail as sometimes the problems may be out of our control).
Do you have experience working across different industries?
Yes we also shoot corporate jobs as well as ads and our main focus is Music video, we're always open to jump on a call and discuss no matter the industry.
Can you work within my budget?
YES, this is a major Obscura USP, we offer a competitive price that isn't comparable to any other production team in the industry. We also strive to work with every budget as we have a team of freelancers working under Obscura Motion.
How do you determine pricing for a project?
On our first introductory call we will always ask what you're willing to put into the project instead of the other way round, we will then look to develop an idea, putting a treatment together to abseil to your budget.
What is your typical turnaround time?
For the editing process it will depend on the size, budget, timing and deliverables of the project, however, this can be determined on a call.
What makes Obscura Motion different from other production teams?
Obscura Motion is a production team who focuses on you as an artist and how you can develop your OWN craft. Over the last 2 years we've achieved amazingly unique videos which represent specific artist's themselves. We also love to give people a chance, all freelancers who are trusted to work under/ with us, are not onboard because of their reputation, they're with us because they've displayed skills that we would like to develop and nurture. On top of all of this, the proof is in the videos we produce, these videos all display the ability within our team.
